Supporting the ecosystem to build a smart, integrated, and inclusive financial future in Africa.

As a testament to this commitment, a delegation of Huawei representatives participated in this 3rd edition of the Africa Financial Industry Summit. Among them were Jean SUN, Vice President Enterprise, Huawei Northern Africa; El Mehdi EL JAIR, Regional CTO for Financial Services Industry Enterprise, Huawei Northern Africa; and Christophe GRENIER, Regional Storage CTO, Huawei Northern Africa. They shared their insights and expertise on the opportunities that digital technologies offer for fostering an agile banking and financial ecosystem, especially in Mobile Money and Open Finance.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Huawei organized a side event on November 15, under the  following topic  : "Accelerating Intelligent Finance in Africa - Creating New Value Together." Emphasizing the importance of developing all scenarios for smart finance to create reliable and attractive business opportunities in Africa, Jean SUN, Vice President Enterprise, Huawei Northern Africa, stressed, "We are resolutely and firmly committed to Africa. Our goal is to work closely with all local players and financial institutions to develop a robust and innovative financial ecosystem. To this end, we rely on digital infrastructures such as cloud and artificial intelligence, which are essential foundations for building smarter financial solutions and services."

During his speech, El Mehdi EL JAIR, Regional CTO for Financial Services Industry Enterprise, Huawei Northern Africa, highlighted Africa's prominent role in the digital finance sector. "With its 2,500 FinTech actors, Africa stands out as the continent with the highest concentration of these innovative companies globally," he noted. Focusing on the benefits of digitalization in the industry, Stéphane KOUAME, Executive Solution Manager, Huawei Côte d'Ivoire, discussed the tangible benefits of Huawei's technological innovations, particularly in the smart networks sector.

Numerous challenges, however, still need to be addressed for a successful digitalization of African finance, as noted by Christophe GRENIER, Regional Storage CTO, Huawei Northern Africa: "Nowadays, a cyberattack occurs every 11 seconds worldwide, posing a major challenge for the financial sector in a context of accelerated digitalization, especially in Africa where FinTechs are rapidly expanding." In response to these challenges, Huawei positions itself as a key player. "Our goal is to contribute to building a secure and reliable financial sector," he added.

As pointed out by Gwendoline ABUNAW, Managing Director of Ecobank Cameroon, during her intervention at the side event, "Telecommunications players should not be seen as competitors, but as partners, as we need them to move faster."

Huawei therefore reaffirms its position as an major strategic partner, focusing not only on the development of innovative solutions and infrastructures but also on guiding Africa towards essential financial stability for successful and sustainable integration into the global economy.
